Week 11: Matchups

11/15/2023
This is my first time doing this since the pick window. Something tells me that the matchups got way easier to determine. Rivalry week is back:

Last time (2-3), Season (19-6)

SL Matchup of the Week: Zark's Sharks vs Washington Fantasy Team

Number 1 vs Number 2. What a showdown this is going to be. I think the Sharks are pretty much locked in the 2/3 seed spot, so this is all about Curtis avoiding the play in. The Sharks have a fully loaded roster this week, while WFT is missing a sure fire starter in Jonathon Taylor due to BYE. The addition of Kenneth Walker and Tony Pollard does mitigate the loss, but the Sharks get an advantage at FLEX for this week because of it. Dobbs is a big X factor here, and monitoring Justin Jefferson's situation will be key, as he could be a matchup winner if he is cleared to play. Overall, this is not the most crucial game in the world for either team, but it is our first direct look at what this likely playoff matchup could be like. If Curtis were to lose this week, it's possible the last regular season matchup between these two means even more. I give the Sharks the slight edge, but literally any outcome is possible here.

Verdict: Sharks win

Parma Pirates vs. Bud Ice Penguins

I will say that this isn't a closed book. The projections and averages both say the Penguins should win, but this is a team prone to having bad weeks. The Pirates lineup is averaging a solid 120 points on the season, so the Penguins cannot play with their food here. I suspect they will not, give me Penguins by 20. There is a tiny chance Puka and AJ Brown carry the Pirates to a win here, though.

Verdict: Penguins win

Bridge Road Orcas vs. Play Action Jackson

PAJ is trying to lose, and the Orcas want to win. That's about all you really need to say here. I'm disappointed in PAJ's unwillingness to play spoiler despite the rest of their schedule looking like total L's.

Verdict: Orcas wins

StepBurrow Stoppppp vs. PGH Crooners

This newly reformed Crooners team should stomp StepBurrow, but Jacob now has wins against Sam and Zach, so anything is possible. I think I would be dumb to pick against the Crooners here, but there is a lot of volatility on the field for both teams. I am excited to watch the new Crooners in action this week.

Verdict: Crooners win

Slat's Slimes vs. CARTMAN

Wake me up when this one is over... I'm hoping Carter sets his lineup so he avoids the commissioner's wrath though. Slimes by 50.

Verdict: Slimes win
