Power Rankings: Post-Lottery

A new Super League season is upon us so that means it's time to rank everyone. If you're not ranked where you'd like to be then I'm sorry.. Prove me wrong. This is as of August 5th, so things will likely change in the coming days. I included projected keepers that were totally subjective and could prove to be inaccurate, and for some teams I wasn't sure on the last keeper.

1. Zark's Sharks
Projected Keepers: Josh Allen, Justin Jefferson, Stefon Diggs
The narrative coming into this season was there were two super teams above everyone else: Zark's Sharks and Bud Ice Penguins. If I made this list before the lottery, I would have likely put Bud Ice Penguins here due to the slight draft capital advantage they acquired in the 2022 season, but everything has changed since trades were allowed. Zach has now assembled a super-stack of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs as well as trading his way into two top five picks. The unknown variable for the Sharks is the expansion teams, as they are untested and their impact is unknown. This aside, it's clear the Sharks are going for the first ever championship ring and the increased prize pool, and it will be hard to stop Zach if he drafts well. (I didn't even mention he has Justin Jefferson too..)
2. Bud Ice Penguins
Projected Keepers: Patrick Mahomes, Ja'Marr Chase, Trevor Lawrence
Bud Ice is bringing good intangibles by bringing the beloved brand into Super League this season. Noah has assembled an insane amount of draft capital, but he has also decided to use some of it. Everything rests on one man for the Penguins, and that is Trevor Laurence. After trading 2023 and 2024 draft capital for him, the kid must produce. I will say that Noah is smart for taking the two QB keeper approach now that expansion has arrived, and Mahomes/Laurence could prove to be one of the most deadly keeper combos for years to come. Noah needs a big draft or more big moves to get back the number one spot in my eyes, but only because the Sharks look like a juggernaut.
3. Arson Wentz
Projected Keepers: CMC, Nick Chubb, Davante Adams
If I've learned anything from Super League, it's to never count this man out. Jack hasn't traded any of his picks recently, and I think because of this he positions himself to always be competitive. Jack was the champion of the first season and proved that he wasn't a fluke by posting a league record best 13 wins last season, breaking his own record of 12 wins the season prior. No other team in Super League history has posted more than 10 wins in a season. He's still my Super League GOAT (sorry Curt, you're close tho), so even though he doesn't have extra capital, he also doesn't have negative capital. He will absolutely still be in the mix at the end of the season in my eyes.
4. Slatt's Slimes
Projected Keepers: Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler, AJ Brown
Now we get to the unknown - expansion teams. I will say, I was impressed with both expansion teams in the expansion draft, and Sam managed to nab a stack of Ekeler and Herbert, which was unexpected to say the least. I like what I've seen from Sam so far, but it's early. I do have prior experience with Sam in a fantasy basketball league (that he won), but this is Super League. I'm only putting Sam above Nathan because I think his keepers are a bit better for this season. Sam will have the chance to select another keeper level player in the draft, and I expect him to be able to build a competent roster around the nice stack with untouched draft ammo in both the 2023 and 2024 drafts. Also bonus points for the incredible team name.
5. PGH Crooners
Projected Keepers: Breece Hall, Justin Fields, Deebo Samuel or Jaylen Waddle
Next up is Nathan, who I have zero prior fantasy experience with. What I can say is Nathan knows ball, so I think he will eventually be in the running for a Super League championship someday. The question for me is if the Crooners will be there this season. With the amount of youth currently on the team, I'd have to imagine they won't be a top 3 team this season. However, Nathan won the 2023 draft lottery and it has been reported that the Crooners will select Bijan Robinson with the first overall pick, who could be his best keeper going forward. If Breece Hall pans out and stays healthy I think this could become a dominant team for a few seasons if they keep the core together. I am interested to see the kind of trades Nathan makes throughout the season and who he goes with on the round 2/3 turn in the draft. I'm lower on Nathan's team now than I am on his future chances, but he could very well be the last team in for the 2023 playoffs, which would be a successful first season in my opinion.
6. Parma Pirates
Projected Keepers: Jalen Hurts, Tyreek Hill, Saquon Barkley or Deshawn Watson
While the goal for this team is the 2024 title, I am not in a bad position this season to compete for a playoff spot. I have achieved my goals and more so far in this trading window, and I believe I will only add more future draft capital to my expanding collection. I have successfully traded my fourth protected spot twice now, which is a major W. The reason I see myself as a first-team out kind of team is that I now have 6 picks in the first five rounds, and some late round move ups, which I believe gives me an edge over the teams that have their default pick selections. Overall I'm very happy with my moves so far this season and I am looking to make more.
7. Let's Go Brandon Aiyuk
Projected Keepers: Rhamondre Stevenson, CeeDee Lamb, DK Metcalf or Najee Harris
Some people (including Christian) may view leaving Ekeler and Herbert vulnerable in the expansion draft a mistake, but the big 3 Christian will bring into this season will give him a fighting chance. I don't see a title run in the cards for Christian but I could see him making the playoffs as high as seed 3. Christian may be forced to use his first round pick on a QB as he will not be keeping a QB and the extra teams have already grabbed keeper QBs. He has not made any draft pick trades to my knowledge and may need to explore this in one way or another to boost his chances. I am rooting for Christian in this league and I hope he can turn around this franchise with a nice showing this season.
8. Unnamed Cadogan-Sherman Team
Projected Keepers: Lamar Jackson, Tony Pollard, Mark Andrews
I'm not sure what to expect from this team given the new co-GM of the franchise and the new brand expected to be unveiled soon. As one of two teams without a first round pick currently, I expect them to be a step behind everyone else at the beginning of the season. I would not rule out a competitive season completely, but things will need to bounce this team's way for a real run to occur. Lamar and Mark need to produce in a big way this season. I think a strong team identity would be a great first step in the right direction for this squad, and I'm very curious to see Steven's impact on this team going forward.
9. Team Tracey
Projected Keepers: Travis Kelce, Jonathan Taylor, Amon-Ra St. Brown
After an absolutely insane debut to Super League last season, Team Tracey have traded themselves into a hole so deep that there's almost no way to escape the losing season that is about to occur. Carter made some of the most questionable trades of the season in 2022, but at every turn he kept proving the doubters wrong. Carter has previously stated that he aims to rebuild to contend in 2024, and he does have some potential trade ammo with Jonathon Taylor on the trading block. I absolutely believe Team Tracey has little chance at making the playoffs this season, but maybe Carter can hustle his way into the league's hearts once again. Time will tell.
10. Washington Fantasy Team
Projected Keepers: Cooper Kupp, Derrick Henry, Joe Burrow
He won the 2023 Super League title, but he absolutely paid the price. Curtis should be the worst team in the league given his draft situation this season. He virtually traded every value pick in his arsenal except for one, his second round pick (2.01). Curtis is behind in the 2024 pick race, but he has arguably the strongest keepers of any team on this half of the list, which may allow him to defeat new rival Team Tracey in their multiple matchups. I expect Curtis to be a force in 2024, but this season he will be bottom of the table without major moves.
