Power Rankings: Week 7

The biggest shakeup in the power rankings yet. The Mickey Mouse Cup qualifying weeks have led to a big shift in the status quo and league standings at large. There were a few shocking outcomes in week 6 especially. The way forward has become clear for some, but for others, difficult choices lie ahead. Also, tiers are back! Thanks for reminding me how good they were Noah.

Historically Bad
12. GIRTH (➖)
Team GIRTH is officially off to the worst start in league history. Six straight losses to christen the team's Super League tenure. They now are the only team without a win to their name, which certainly puts them into their own tier. It may not be all bad for GIRTH, as they managed to get 100% start/sit this week. However, looking at the team's bench, every single player was either on BYE, injured, or scored 0 points, so maybe it is all bad. You could barely make a roster worse than this on purpose without breaking the rules. The future is brighter than the present for GIRTH, as multiple keepers will be returning in the coming weeks, and the QB play might be coming around. This team is destined for anti-greatness this season.
In the Toilet
11. Slat's Slimes (📉-2)
What a turn of events for the Slimes. They've fallen four spots in two weeks on this poll, and despite not having the worst record in this tier, they have earned this placement. Last place in the Mickey Mouse Cup is bad, but getting outscored by team GIRTH in both of those weeks is even worse. Things could get even uglier if Justin Fields is actually benched. That's a lot of negative things to say, but there's a huge positive here. I think the roster and results demand a rebuild. Team manager Sam proved last season he has some skills, making the playoffs in his first season. I think Sam adopting some strategies to improve the future outlook of the team could be really fun. A good manager is better than his worst season, but this team as it stands is moving towards toilet bowl contention and maybe even a BYE in it.
10. Muff Punters (📈+1)
Look at the Punters go. They win one of the upsets of the year, knocking off the Blue Waffles in what was a much needed win for the team. The Waffles had a ton of players out, but a win is a win, and they did it with franchise player MHJ exiting the game scoreless. Even better, the Punters were middle of the pack when it came to the Mickey Mouse Cup standings, a huge improvement. Love stock is going up, Diggs stock is going up, and Pollard stock is at a high. This team could make some serious moves selling players if they wanted to in November. This team has a chance to play spoiler again this week in a matchup with Washington Fantasy Team. It was just one win, but there's honestly a lot to like.
9. PT Flea Flik-er (📈+1)
Hold on folks. We have a WINNING STREAK IN INDIANA! It isn't a huge bump up the totem poll due to how solid the league is right now, but it's a surprising rise to me. No one saw PT Flea going into Bud Ice's house and coming out with the W, but that's what happened. Their reward is to face a pissed off Sharks team needing a win, so their short streak is likely to come to an end, but I enjoyed it while it lasted. Amari Cooper may be a nice piece to flip for picks in November now that he has Josh Allen throwing to him. This team lacks a lot of things including solid keepers, but they do have heart. I am interested to see how this team approaches the upcoming pick window opening.
Bubble Teams
8. The Blue Waffles (📉-2)
The roller coaster continues for the newly named Blue Waffles. This might be the only team on this list that doesn't deserve their place on this list, simply due to luck going against them at almost every turn, but that is, in fact, fantasy for ya. The Blue Waffles are now 2-4, dropping to last place in the Moss division, and just lost to a winless Muff Punters team. They left a ton of points on the bench this week in a winnable game. There's a lot of good pieces on this team, but it feels hard to know who will pop. One of the main reasons for this placement is the long-term outlook of the team. FantasyPros has them at a 50/50 shot at the playoffs now, and this doesn't take into account the Waffles lack of ammo vs. every team above them on this list. What this team does have going for it is the branding. The intangibles skyrocketed with the new logo and branding, so maybe the luck will follow.
7. Bud Ice Penguins (➖)
After three straight losses, most recently to PT Flea Flik-er, it may be time to hit the panic button. The Penguins did have nearly an entire bench full of BYE players this week, including multiple projected keepers. Something died in this team when Rice went down, and it will be hard to recover the magic in my opinion. The Penguins could push in the chips and go for it, but is it really worth it? This team is fresh off the best fantasy season any of us have ever seen, including a championship ring. That ring was built on the back of a world-class rebuild. This team faces another challenge this week in Play Action Jackson, and another tough game in out of division rival Zark's Sharks. Losses there could force the brothers into a real conversation about the direction of the team this year. For now, I could honestly see this team rise or fall on this list, but today they stay the same despite the terrible loss.
6. Washington Fantasy Team (📈+2)
Fantasy Team is now .500, with a very real chance to win the next two as they face two teams in the lower tiers. If this team gets to 5-3, they would likely be more aggressive than anyone else in the league, and we would never hear the end of it. It wouldn't be Super League if this team didn't find their way into the mix, and despite all odds, they are here yet again. This roster is not really better than the other teams in this tier, but their situation very well may be. One challenge this team may have this season is the pick window could be less kind. I'm sure Curtis will pull the trigger on a few deals, but the Toilet Bowl and extra playoff spot change the equation a bit. Curtis is one of the best in the league for a reason and this time of year is when he tends to shine. Huge jump for Fantasy Team this week.
Title Contenders
5. Play Action Jackson (➖)
PAJ expects glaze, I don't give it. PAJ expects racism, I refuse. You never know what's coming next in the Super League power rankings. I'm calling them a title contender due to their divisional status. They got blown out by the Pirates last week, but it was still a pretty solid performance. This team has been steady scoring-wise this year, usually putting up 120+. If Nick Chubb can be 70% of his normal self after returning, this team could go to the next level. Rodgers could start putting up more points with more weapons as well. The baseline is there, but time is approaching to make a big move. I expect most of the teams in this tier and the one below to spend pick capital in some way to solidify their position, but it seems like PAJ is a step behind other teams in the trade department. This team is a major playoff lock, but time will tell how much of a contender they are.
4. The Bridge Road Orcas (➖)
The Orcas keep the winning streak going, moving on to five straight W's. They get to bully #12 GIRTH this week too. Almost every player active on the roster looked great this week. Tank Dell looks like a keeper again (with Nico out), Bo Nix put up 20 points, and even Keenan Allen joined in on the fun. After defeating his rival BIP, Jack and company have had nothing but smooth sailing. I spoke with Jack in person last week and you could tell he's confident in the way things are going. They don't move up in the rankings, but the Orcas are looking more and more like a playoff lock despite missing his MVP.
3. Zark's Sharks (📉-2)
The Sharks drop two in a row, losing an absolute thriller in the matchup of the week to Sacks in the City. The Sharks put up a massive performance, but it wasn't quite enough against the rising powerhouse Sacks. A drop on this list was coming because of the loss, but the Pirates elevating their play and now threatening to take a two-game lead in the division changes the equation a bit. This team is a playoff lock, and still leads the league in points, but that lead is slowly getting smaller. They do get a chance to get back in the green, with a matchup vs. PT Flea this week (though, they aren't looking completely hopeless these days). The Sharks have all the pieces to win the title this year, and the acumen to make the roster even better as the year goes on, but today they finally lose the #1 spot after weeks at the top.
2. Parma Pirates (📈+1)
How about those Pirates. They drop two huge weeks to advance to the Mickey Mouse Cup. The commissioner inventing said cup and then winning it would be absolute comedy. They're playing their best football right now, and took over first place in the Moss division. Fantasy Pros has my squad at a 99% chance to make the playoffs and the top odds at winning the title this season. Winning the Mickey Mouse Cup would not only give this team a guaranteed 2 game lead in the division, but a guaranteed 2 game lead over Sacks in the City to take over the top seed. I am very happy with my team to say the least.
1. Sacks in the City (📈+1)
Sacks in the City comes up huge in their biggest test yet, and they did it without one of their most consistent players in Kyren Williams. They rally to move on to the Mickey Mouse Cup finals, where they have a chance to take over the league with a win. Even if they do lose, they're getting a lot of their big out-of-division games out of the way now, with four straight games against the Sharpe division, three of which seem extremely winnable. Jayden Daniels looks like the keeper of all keepers right now. This team might legitimately have five top keepers. We could be at the beginning of a dynasty if this team plays their cards right. I called it out last week, but Tyrone Tracy was an absolute stud of a pickup. Nathan has these boys PLAYING right now. Well deserved #1.
