Power Rankings: Week 9

Another week, another AIDS-drenched dollar. This is gonna be a shorter one so I can get this out before the night's over. A huge week is upon us as the November pick window is about to open. There is almost no movement this week because I guess I nailed it last week.

12. GIRTH (➖)
0-8. Next.
Sell, Sell, Sell!
11. PT Flea Flik-er (📉-1)
PT Flea traded away Amari Cooper last week, but it didn't make a difference in the matchup's outcome. I suspect this team may look very different in the coming weeks, as they appear ready to sell pieces to build for next season. I've really enjoyed Jackson's first year in Super League, regardless of his placement and the results. I think this team could make some moves this week that really position them to be a solid franchise in this league for years to come (or at least next season).
10. Muff Punters (📉-1)
I feel bad for the Punters. Nothing is really going right this year, and this week was the hardest one yet. They drop 130 and look like they have a real chance, just to lose in Monday Night Agony. The Punters should be sellers, but they don't have a ton of guys to move. They just lost possibly their best candidate in Stefon Diggs, and the third keeper spot is already looking weak even without trading guys away. Tyler also is one of two teams to not make a draft pick trade from the August pick window, so there's a question on if this team will be active at all this week. As it stands, the Punters are in line for the toilet bowl BYE.
9. Slat's Slimes (📈+2)
Man, the Slimes can't catch a break. They've been waiting for the November pick window to open up since... the draft probably? They had a much needed bounce back week, and they actually would have beat multiple teams this week, but got the pleasure of being waxed by 60 instead. That's Super League. There's a few names here that could get this team some draft capital for next season, but I don't expect this team to walk away with a top 3 draft haul for next season. They only move up here because the league is so rough outside the top 8. Sam is a great guy but he has some work to do here.
8. Bud Ice Penguins (➖)
The Penguins officially have fallen out of the top group of teams, losing 5 straight. It seems like Noah and Nick have accepted their fate and are prepared to sell. These guys are consistently some of the most active each pick window, so there will be a ton of moves made. I'm not even sure who will be safe on this roster. This is where the brothers can really shine. This season may have gone bad, but so what? They entered this season with little hope of making the playoffs, but managed to give themselves a real shot. In the process, they acquired a good bit of value that they can now move. The Penguins may be done in the 2024 playoff chase, but they are certainly not done maneuvering.
Huge Week
7. The Blue Waffles (➖)
The Waffles kept their promise of going undefeated (so far) by delivering a pretty crucial blow to a top team in the league. If the Orcas were to slide down, the Waffles will have the tiebreaker on them now. They face another huge test this week, facing Play Action Jackson, their rival. This team is playing their best football right now, but the importance of this week cannot be understated, and not just in their rival matchup. The Waffles publicly stated that they will be basing their decision to either buy or sell on the outcome of this week, but the Jacob I know certainly has been eyeing some deals. Waiting a week to hit the market could hurt this team's chances of buying or selling, but it does make logical sense as they sit on the bubble. They are down draft picks in 2025 already, so further buying would be a huge bet on this team. To Jacob's credit, his roster looks pretty scary ROS.
6. Washington Fantasy Team (➖)
Washington Fantasy Team is back at it like a crack addict, except they move picks instead of baggies. I don't even have to say anything, because everyone knows what Curtis is about to do. We will evaluate the chaos next week, but right now all I need to say is to get some popcorn ready and enjoy the show.
5. The Bridge Road Orcas (➖)
The Orcas took their second loss of the season, snapping their winning streak. They are an impressive 6-2 on the season, but I actually think they could be in trouble. For starters, they lost to the Blue Waffles, a team on the bubble, and won't be able to gain the tiebreaker back over them. Now they face Washington Fantasy Team, another bubble team; one that is looking to improve a lot before the start of this matchup. Their schedule the rest of the way is not kind, as they face four of the top six of this list in the next four weeks. Losing to WFT would make them permanently lose the tiebreaker against both bubble teams, and would put WFT and the Waffles both in striking distance to catch and pass the Orcas. One idea to prevent this would be to buy on Friday, in a way that significantly impacts their chances this week. There's actually a ton on the line for this team right now.
Buy, Buy, Buy!
4. Play Action Jackson (➖)
Play Action Jackson has looked very strong these past few weeks. They face a big test against the Waffles this time, but unlike their 6-2 counterpart Orcas, they will be ok if they lose this week. This team may as well be clinched for the playoffs already. I am expecting some sort of acquisition from this team, but I really have no clue what it will look like. They could add some depth pieces, but I am not expecting a total overhaul by any means. Then again, these guys have been unpredictable on trades, so we will just have to wait and see.
3. Zark's Sharks (➖)
The Sharks pretty much ended the Penguins season this week, which has to feel great. As far as their team outlook, they are in a great spot in terms of top end talent, but could definitely look to add a few pieces this week and throughout November to round out the depth. I'm not sure how aggressive the Sharks will be, as the top of the league is pretty packed right now, but they have as good of a chance as anyone to win the title in my opinion. Similar to PAJ, I expect a deal or two but not a rework of the team.
2. Sacks in the City (➖)
Sacks in the City finally got their blowout win, destroying GIRTH by 50. They get to have a couple more relaxing weeks (on paper), as PT Flea and the Slimes, both highly likely to be selling teams, are on the schedule. In fact, I'd say they only have two games on the schedule left that wouldn't feel like complete shocks if they lost (assuming BIP also sells). Divisional rival Jack looks like he could be about to drop a couple of games, in danger of being on the bubble. This would have Sacks in the City cruising to a divisional title. The question then becomes, how will this team approach the November pick window opening? We did see Nathan use draft capital twice already, as he was a buying team last season, and acquired Derrick Henry in a trade this year. I believe he will make a move or two, but I have no idea what to expect the aggressiveness level to be. Nathan has been A+ all year, so I'm looking forward to seeing the gameplan.
1. Parma Pirates (➖)
4-0 record and 150 ppg in October. The Pirates have a two game lead on the league for the number one seed. This team looks really damn good, just sayin'.
